‘In Poland, a man like Szczuka, with the standing that he commands, becomes something of an institution, and is burdened with all kinds of matters and issues not directly related to his own work. Overcoming personal privation, and with Teresa Żarnowerówna’s help, he manages to keep Blok afloat until early 1926, organizes an international exhibition of modern art, and tries to organize in Warsaw a museum of reproductions of old and new art, which in a country hardly abundant in artworks would greatly contribute to the overall development of artistic culture. He works in the hardest of conditions, surrounded by dull enmity that is interlaced with the attacks of various lampooners, to which the late Szczuka often paid too much attention.’

A. Stawar, Dźwignia, No. 5, 1927, p. 9.
